Dammit! I screwed up the Archive link. But only because it was already screwed up b/c it kept pointing to the wrong place. Whatever ... nobody is going to want to read my archives anyway.

Reply from support
Here is the email reply I got from Blogger support:
Hi there,
We are only using port 21, so your settings should be fine. One thing to check, though, is if you are using active FTP. We only support passive FTP, so that could be causing the problem.
Sincerely, ******
OK, this makes sense. ANYBODY KNOW HOW TO CHECK THAT ON IIS6???? Sorry, I didn't mean to shout, but I'm too tired to look for myself. email me if you know the answer.

Linux on my laptop - The Saga Continues, Part 2
So I'm back to my own laptop. Ahhhhh....comfort of "home".
So I re-installed the Linux, this time making sure i grabbed all of the libs and still there was something missing. I could not run KDE. Now, you need to understand - I grew up on the command line, I cut my teeth on the DOS prompt, I lost my virginity on the c shell. But why use the terminal interface if you don't have to. I don't see people with automatic tranies taking them out in favor of stick-shifts.
So I'm just about ready to give up on the Linux-on-laptop project. It's too painful to go through it some times only to be disappointed. I had Mandrake Linux running on here before on a proper 2 partition system, but them my hard drive decided to take a dump. Figures. Luckily the Thinkpad was still under warranty so all I had to do was wait for the shinny new hard drive to be installed FOR FREE! I got a new LCD too from this deal. In fact, did i mention i got this whole thing for free? I didn't? I'm sorry I should have made introductions. Free IBM Thinkpad meet the reader. Reader wave hello to the Thinkpad. Common, don't be shy - wave a little, no one is looking. That's better.
Sheesh...just got an email from a client asking me if she should get a Mac laptop. After the week I've had, it's just adding insult to injury. I'm too tired for the tirade about Macs....

Linux on my laptop - The Saga Continues
So I downloaded the ISO, burned it and installed it. Ahh...so I thought. Turns out I skipped a very important terminal emulator something or other and I could not log on as root. OK, so I'm in the middle of re-doing it again. And then I'm thinking -- I used to do this for a living, so what happened? Why does it feel like everything comes so difficult? I've been making minor mistakes all this week.
I'll give you an example: I'm trying to get this guy's laptop on the network. For some strange reason the DHCP server is playing possum. OK, I'll fix that...I put in a static IP address, just a few notches away from the IP's we assigned just a day ago!!! But no, instead of 192 I type 195. WTF?!?! I have never used 195 for anything! It's not even close to being right! The 5 is so far away from the 2 that there is no way I made a simple typo. And don't even get me started on the 0 instead of 1! *sigh*
I had to take a quick break and install the touchpad software, b/c the stupid cursor kept moving away from where i typed..
I'm downloading the ISO as we speak. I seriously want to learn some WIFi hacking tools, not for evil purposes, but just so that i can be that much more usefull to my customers. I'll let you know how it goes.

A Long Day...
This has been a hellish past few days. I've had to work late almost every day of this week. I come home, I'm all exhausted, and I don't feel like doing anything. Not even blogging. That's why it's been a few days since I last typed something here.
That stupid support site is still out and I will never find out what the freakin' ports are. I'd like to turn the port filtering back on, thank you very much. Now there isn't even a link to bloggercontrol. WTF.
Update: the link is there but I just didn't see it. Must be my tired eyes.

How ironic that i figure out what's bugging my site, without any support from bloggercontrol, and now their own site is buggered up!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!

WOW! It worked. so that means that there is some funky port that they are using....I'll have to ask support about this.

Ok, one more try. I have disabled the port filtering on my server, EVEN THO i don't have problems connecting via ftp. but we'll see what happens.

What a pain in the ass!!!!! I've been hosting my own website for ages it seems, but i cannot get this stupid site to connect to it!!! Maybe it's not meant to be, maybe i'm not supposed to unleash my intimate thoughts upon the world, as it could flourish like a wildfire, affecting webservers all over ther world. OK, enuff drama. I'll see what support people say.

In the beginning there was darkness...
Man, i never thought i would be doing this, but since it's all the rage why not. But i feel like i need an outlet for my thoughts, esp when I'm up late at night in my livingroom with my trusty laptop. Besides, I need to practice typing in the dark. :)

Besides you,
other people have been here.
This is where Flat Line gets to tell you about the murky things that wallow in his mind. It might be computer-related, or maybe some philosophical musings, or maybe just complete gibberish as I let my cats type for me. Let's see where this goes...
